A Day Between Destinies follows the story of Luke and Isabelle.
He was a magazine writer, an adventurous soul with a free spirit. She? A disciplined girl, bound by routine, hailing from Paris. She was visiting her friends, and him? Well, he was on a journey to finding something worthwhile. And, then, he met her.
Luke and Isabelle met as the stars aligned for them. There was a palpable spark between the two hearts, waiting to explode into a flurry of emotions that was nothing less than a spectacle among audiences. In the serene backdrop of Vienna, conversations and long walks broke down the walls that initially separated them. However, it was time to say goodbye, but they couldn’t just ignore this connection, this growing fondness, and so…
The couple decided upon a date for their reunion.
A Day Between Destinies isn’t just a story; it is a feeling that resonates with many. Martha Joyce, 18, says:

We sat down with Alcock to walk us through the experience.
Behind the Scenes with Mary Alcock
The first thing we noticed about Mary was how down-to-earth and lovely she was. She explained the intricacies of her creative process, saying, “Put your heart and soul into all that you write, and let the story take you away.”
She firmly believes in giving the characters autonomy. So, Mary isn’t writing the characters; the characters control their own narratives. Secondly, Mary is also passionate about the subject and has spent significant time studying her favorite novels and what made them great. She believes, “We become what we consume.” Our artistic prowess is an amalgamation of everything we have been inspired by.
Lastly, Mary has emphasized having your downtime. The thing about passion is that it is very possessive of you. It will hold you captive without you even noticing. You’ll write and write and write; before you know it, you’re exhausted. According to Mary, “The writing experience is very addicting, but it is important to take a break occasionally to breathe fresh air. Burnout is an enemy for writers and must be taken very seriously.”
Mary advises breaking up your writing routine into bursts of productive and efficient periods. She writes for about 2 hours per sitting and breaks it into however many sessions she likes throughout the day. And, oh, coffee helps as well.
To new writers, Mary quotes:
“To all the little grasshoppers looking to become big, my advice is, don’t focus on it. Instead, focus on telling your story. If you have a story burning deep inside you and can’t seem to keep it to yourself, greatness awaits you.”
